Genie offers belt, chain, screw and wall-mount openers, with connectivity and battery options that vary by model. For a quiet connected example, StealthDrive Connect 7155 combines belt drive, Aladdin Connect and battery backup. If you already own a Genie, use its model number before buying accessories or following setup steps.
Already have an opener? Go to Wi-Fi setup and check the model number on your unit.
Choosing a Genie opener
- Match the door type, height and weight to the manufacturer's limits.
- Compare drive noise when there is living space next to the garage.
- Confirm battery backup for a new California residential installation.
- Check whether Aladdin Connect is built in or needs a compatible add-on.
- Verify the vehicle's HomeLink or Car2U support for the exact opener.
The Genie 7155 specification identifies its included features and extension-kit requirements. Do not assume an older ChainMax or SilentMax has the same Wi-Fi or battery configuration.
Two model configurations to compare
| Model | Layout and features | Fit check |
|---|---|---|
| StealthDrive Connect 7155 | Ceiling-mounted belt drive, built-in Aladdin Connect and battery backup. | Check rail clearance and door height; an extension kit is required for an 8-foot door. |
| Wall Mount 6172 | Mounts beside the door on the spring tube, with Aladdin Connect and battery backup. | Have the installer confirm compatible sectional-door hardware and side clearance before choosing this layout. |
These examples show different layouts, not a promise of stock or a recommendation for every door. Check the exact model suffix and package contents in the manufacturer's current specification.
Wi-Fi setup
For an Aladdin Connect model, use the current Aladdin Connect app and the official Aladdin Connect setup instructions for that opener. Have the Wi-Fi credentials ready, confirm the network reaches the garage and keep the door area clear during setup. A physical remote and the phone app are programmed differently.
If the opener stops working
Check the remote battery, visible power connection and anything blocking the sensors. Record the status lights or error pattern. Stop operating a door that is crooked, binding or has damaged springs or cables. Do not increase force settings to make a damaged door move.
Maintenance
Use the model's manual for lubrication points and safety-reversal tests. A screw drive can require different lubricant from a belt drive. Have a technician inspect door balance if motion changes; do not adjust springs yourself.
