A Bluetooth garage door product may use Bluetooth for nearby control, or only to set up its Wi-Fi connection. Check which function it actually supports. If you want the door to work from your phone without internet, a Bluetooth logo alone does not establish that capability.
Bluetooth control versus Bluetooth setup

For example, Chamberlain describes Bluetooth as a setup feature, while myQ setup guidance requires Wi-Fi for app control. Do not assume it becomes a Bluetooth-only opener when the router goes offline.
Check before buying an add-on
- The exact opener model and supported receiver or wiring interface.
- Whether operation works without Wi-Fi, internet or a cloud login.
- Supported phones, app updates and how household access is removed.
- How the accessory gets power and whether any backup covers it.
- Whether door-position sensing and required entrapment protection are included.
Installation and safety
Use only a compatible accessory and its installation instructions. Do not short terminals, bypass sensors or add a relay based on a generic diagram. App control does not replace working safety sensors or a door in good mechanical condition.
If your phone will not connect
Confirm what connection the product uses for daily operation. Check its power, app permissions and supported network. If Bluetooth is used only for setup, turning it on will not resolve a lost internet connection. Existing remotes and wall controls generally remain separate ways to operate a powered, functioning opener.
