myQ lets you check and operate a compatible garage door through a phone app. Some openers have it built in; others need a compatible Smart Garage Control hub and door sensor. Check your exact opener before buying a hub, because having safety sensors and a newer manufacture date does not guarantee compatibility.
Which setup do you need?
| Your opener | What to check |
|---|---|
| Built-in Wi-Fi and myQ | Use the model's app setup; a separate hub may be unnecessary. |
| No built-in connected control | Use myQ's compatibility tool to check an add-on hub. |
| Older myQ-ready equipment | Identify its required accessory; myQ-ready does not mean built-in Wi-Fi. |
The myQ setup page links the compatibility tool. Check the complete result for the model, not only the general manufacture-date guideline.

Before setup
- Have the opener model, Wi-Fi credentials and current myQ app ready.
- Confirm the required network band and a strong signal inside the garage.
- Use the instructions for your hub or built-in opener; they have different mounting and pairing steps.
- Keep people and vehicles clear while confirming door status and operation.
What happens when power or internet fails?
App operation depends on the device, network and myQ service being online. Opener battery backup does not automatically power the router or a separate hub. A functioning, powered opener can generally still use its paired remote and wall control without internet.

Subscriptions and smart-home support
Check current terms for the feature you want, particularly video storage and connected-car services. App access does not guarantee support for every voice assistant or home-automation platform. myQ Home Bridge is discontinued and unsupported, so do not buy it expecting a supported HomeKit upgrade.
If myQ is offline
Check whether the opener still works from its wall control. If it does, focus on power to any hub and the network connection. If neither control works, record the opener's error lights and check for visible door damage before arranging service. Do not bypass sensors to restore app operation.
