A glass garage door typically uses large glazed panels in an aluminum frame for daylight and a contemporary appearance. Clear, frosted and opaque choices give different levels of privacy. We install modern glass and aluminum doors alongside traditional steel and carriage house styles.
What they're made of
The frame is typically aluminum, resistant to rust and corrosion. Available glazing depends on the model. Tempered glass breaks into small fragments; laminated glass has an interlayer designed to help hold fragments together. Those are different properties, and neither makes broken glass safe to handle.
Privacy and insulation
Frosted and opaque options can obscure the view. Tinted glass can remain see-through, especially when the garage is lit at night; inspect a sample for the privacy you need. Compare the thermal rating of the complete glass door with an insulated solid door; double-glazed or insulated panels close some of that gap, and where energy efficiency matters most a solid or partial-window door will usually outperform full glass.
Maintenance
The aluminum frame needs little upkeep beyond an occasional wipe-down. The glass takes a soft cloth and a standard glass cleaner. Inspect the frame seals periodically the same way you would on any garage door.
Where they make sense
Full glass doors are common in modern residential builds and in commercial spaces such as showrooms, restaurants and retail fronts, where an open, storefront-style look is the point.
