Do you replace garage door weatherstripping and trim?
Yes. On a repair or service visit we can replace a worn bottom seal and the top and side weatherstripping where the door meets the frame. We match the replacement to your door's retainer and the existing profile, so the new seal fits the channel and the door closes against an even line all the way around.
Which seals and trim pieces we look at
- Bottom seal: the rubber or vinyl strip that slides into a retainer on the bottom section and closes the gap at the floor.
- Side and top weatherstripping: the flexible flap or stop molding fastened along the jambs and header that the door presses against when it closes.
- Retainer and trim condition: a bent bottom retainer or loose stop molding can keep even a new seal from sealing, so we check those at the same time.
If wood trim around the opening is rotted or split, mention it when you book so we know what to expect before the visit.
Signs it is time to replace them
- Daylight showing under or along the sides of the closed door.
- Water, leaves or pests getting in at the floor line.
- Rubber that is cracked, flattened, torn or pulled out of its channel.
- Side stops that have warped away from the door.
For more on the floor gap, see whether a cracked bottom seal is worth fixing.
Why matching parts matters
Bottom seals come in several shapes, and they only fit the retainer they were made for. A seal that is the wrong profile can pull out, leave gaps at the ends or bunch up. The bottom of the door is also where the lift cables attach to the bottom brackets, which stay under spring tension. Do not loosen those brackets to reach a seal. If water still runs in after a new seal, the slab or the door's closed position may be the cause; see how to stop water under a garage door.
