Garage spring replacement is priced for the spring system fitted to your door, the number of springs being replaced and the work included. 1A Garage Doors charges a $45 diagnostic trip fee for a repair visit and provides a written repair quote before work starts. Ask for the supplied spring specification, not just a price for “a spring.”
What should the replacement quote identify?
- The spring system. The replacement must suit the door's weight, dimensions and counterbalance hardware.
- One spring or a pair. Make sure competing quotes cover the same number of springs.
- The cycle rating. Ask which rating is supplied and whether a higher-cycle option is available for your use.
- Installation and testing. Confirm removal of the failed parts, fitting, balance checks and operational testing are included.

Should both springs be replaced?
On a two-spring door, ask about the remaining spring's condition and the cost of replacing both during the visit. Springs of the same age may have similar wear, but nobody can predict the second spring's exact failure date. The recommendation should account for the actual system, not assume every door uses two springs.
Does a higher cycle rating mean a longer warranty?
Cycle rating and warranty are different specifications. A cycle is one complete opening and closing. More daily use consumes the rated cycles sooner; the rating is not a guaranteed number of years. Ask for the quoted spring's rating and separate written parts and labor warranty terms.
Why a loose spring price is not an installed price
A part sold online does not include diagnosis, matching the spring to the door, removal, labor or testing. Confirm how the $45 diagnostic fee is treated and whether the total includes applicable tax and any after-hours charge. If other hardware is damaged, the spring repair assessment guide explains how to separate that work from the spring replacement.

Keep the door out of service
Do not operate a door with a broken spring, release it while open or adjust tensioned hardware yourself. Keep the doorway clear while arranging service.
