A steel roll-up door can use a corrugated sheet curtain or interlocking steel slats. Both coil above the opening, but they are different products. Compare the opening size, expected use, security, insulation and operating method before choosing a storage door or a commercial rolling service door.
Sheet curtain or interlocking slats?

Wayne Dalton's sheet-door specification illustrates the first type. Do not assume a sheet door has separately replaceable slats or the same insulating options as a service door.
Clearance and operation
The coil or hood needs headroom; guides and the operator need side room. The supporting wall must accept the door's loads. A compact coil saves ceiling depth but is not a promise that the door fits a low header.
Manual push-up, chain-hoist and motor operation depend on the selected model. A properly specified counterbalance is essential; a stronger motor is not a remedy for a difficult or binding curtain.
Cost and maintenance
Compare installed quotes for the same curtain, size, cycle rating, finish, insulation and controls. Steel alone does not establish a price or a decades-long lifespan. Ask for the inspection schedule and warranty for the actual model.
Keep the opening clear and report damaged guides or uneven operation. Leave barrel, spring and tension work to a trained door technician.
