What does professional garage door opener installation include?
A complete installation is more than hanging a motor. The installer checks that the door is ready for an opener, mounts and wires the equipment to the manufacturer's instructions, and proves the safety systems work before handing it over.
The core work
- Checking springs and door balance before the opener goes up.
- Mounting the header bracket, rail and motor to solid framing.
- Connecting the trolley and arm to a properly reinforced door bracket.
- Installing and wiring the safety sensors and wall control.
- Setting travel limits and force.
- Running the photo-eye and contact-reversal tests.
- Programming the remotes and showing you the controls and manual release.
What can vary between estimates
Scope is not the same on every job, so read the estimate closely. Ask for:
- The opener make and model.
- Which controls, rail and safety equipment are included, and how many remotes.
- Removal of the old opener.
- Any separately priced accessories, such as keypads, or door repairs.
A lower equipment price does not mean two estimates cover the same work.
Questions for handover
Before the installer leaves, ask to see normal operation and the safety checks. Ask how the manual release works and where the model and maintenance information is. Check that every accessory you asked for is set up. If you want to keep existing remotes or a keypad, see reusing parts from an old opener.
